How to: Enrich your blog
It’s the start of the new year and if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably made yourself some sort of promise about doing more, blogging more and creating more interesting content. But let’s be realistic about this, by the end of January that initial enthusiasm may be waning and you’re only going to keep it up if it is REALLY SIMPLE.
Luckily, it can be! With Audioboo, you can add an extra level of content to your blog, by using our embeddable players. We’ve a Flash player, HTML5 players, and even a special player to allow you to post audio to WordPress.com blogs. Download our free app for iPhone, Android or Nokia and start experimenting with sound – it’s a lot of fun.
But wait! There’s more! Did you know that you can automatically post to WordPress, Posterous, Tumblr too? You can! That means that as soon as that bright idea for a blog post pops into your mind, you can capture it, speak it, and post it straight to your blog at the click of a button. Meeting someone interesting that you want to write about? Why paraphrase them when you can capture their voice, their emotion, their passion? We’re here to make it easy for you.
No more letting great ideas fall by the wayside because you’ve not had the time to create a literary masterpiece and make sure you’ve uploaded the right sized pictures to go with it, now you can Click, Record, Share with Audioboo. Add a photo and some geolocation data from your smartphone and post directly to your blog. Genius.
Okay, sounds great – how do I do it?
- Sign in to your account or sign up for an Audioboo account if you don’t already have one (where have you been?!)
- Click on “Settings”
- Then select “Posting to other sites”
- Choose where you’d like you Audioboos to post to – Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Posterous and now WordPress are all there for your delectation
- Authorise those you’d like to utilise (the more the merrier) and click save
Job done!
It works with WordPress!
If you have a self-hosted WordPress installation (e.g. domain.com) we’ll use the HTML5 player and if it’s hosted by WordPress (e.g yourblog.wordpress.com) you’ll get the Flash player.
NB: In order to allow Audioboo to post to your WordPress blog you’ll need to check that you have enabled XML-RPC posting in your blog’s “Writing” settings. (Log-in to your blog, look for the “Settings” menu on the left, click “Writing”, scan down the page for “Remote Posting”, ensure that you’ve ticked the box for “XML-RPC”. It may say “enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols” beside the box.) Don’t worry, you should only need to do this once, as long as you save changes!
Go create!
Go have fun, Click, Record and Share your content online. You can find more Top Tips for Audioboo in our FAQ section.

There’s no mention of Blogger?
I agree Blogger support please!
I’ll pass your comments on to the team.

I love audioboo and have started using it in my classroom. I also mentor teachers and am encouraging them to use audioboo, Can we post directly to our blog or does it have to be one of the above sites? I would love to post automatically without worrying about embedding.
I’m afraid we don’t support Blogspot for auto-posting at the moment no. We felt that people were more likely to auto-post to things like Posterous and Tumblr and use embed codes for other sites. We introduced WordPress auto-posting because so many people had asked us about it. If we get enough support for other platforms we’ll look into them too.
Kate
This would be a great help for my blog, but its on blogger, shame.
You can still embed blogs into other blog sites, we just don’t have auto-posting for Blogger yet. Sorry.
Anyway to add tags or cattagories with self hosted wordpress from the audioboo app in iPhone?
You can tag you boo within the iPhone app. I’m not sure if those are carried over to create WordPress tags – but I’ll get someone to look into it and fix it if that’s what you meant?

Can you please share the great new work around in this post for WordPress.com. I can then pass this on to others!
I am exicited about HTML5 but Flash can do all these things html5 can do in a better way.Creating slideshow in HTML5! wow! what, flash did that 10 years ago! It is very easy to create a flash animation, for example a ball bouncing in flash professional in less than am minute. Javascript is a mess when compared to AS3.
Hi, I love using audioboo for my WordPress.com blog. But when I embed a boo can it be viewed on iPhone, iPads etc that don’t have Flash? Cheers
Autoposting to Blogger would make life simpler for all those schoolchildren who use Google’s blogging service. Pretty please.
Hi Chris
Will have team have a look at Blogger API. Any idea how many school’s use Blogger or Google tools in general?
