Audioboo & Absolute Radio
We’re pleased to announce that the first integration of our iPhone plugin architecture has gone live in the App Store.
In what is a UK radio first, national music and entertainment brand Absolute Radio has become the first radio station to integrate Audioboo’s new plug-in architecture into one of its iPhone applications.
The popular Iain Lee Show app, based around the show of the same name on Absolute Radio, allows users to recreate the magic & mayhem of The Iain Lee Show with clips from the show uploaded daily. The application has been updated to contain the Audioboo functionality which will allow listeners to directly engage with the show by recording themselves musing, ranting or declaring their love for Iain both for use within the show on air, within the app itself and online at www.absoluteradio.co.uk.
The Absolute app also makes use of Channels, our Pro service that allows for moderation of content before it goes live and gives the app a dedicated audio page at http://audioboo.fm/channel/iain-lee-on-absolute-radio. Channels can be setup as completely private, accessible to named contributors or public to all. Contributors can be set to moderate the content as well as bypass moderation for their own boos. You can even embed the web record/upload widget on your own website. So they’re a really simple but immensely powerful tool for media businesses and content owners to reach out to their existing audiences.
Now, our own app doesn’t currently support uploading to Channels (it’s a UI thing), so the plugin is even better than the real thing. Go figure that! And integration shouldn’t take longer than half a day. It’s that simple.
There should be two more radio apps updating in the next few weeks with the plugin functionality and hopefully many more after that. We’ve always said that it is our mission to be the place on the web where you listen to audio you can’t hear anywhere else. Hopefully, this is just another big step on that journey.
