Audioboo is Vodafone Clicks finalist

We’re delighted to announce we’re through to the final in September of the Vodaphone Clicks contest. This is a brilliant competition in which Vodafone hand you oodles of cash to develop apps which work on devices it supports (at least, that is how we see it:).

The final consists of 6 companies – 3 from the UK and 3 from Holland. There are 3 prizes (makes you think it should be sponsored by 3). The companies through are us and:

Rummble: A service that recommends content to the user, based on people with the same interests and hobbies.

MyNameIsE: A service that facilitates connecting people on- en offline by gathering their profiles on various social networks – like Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter – at one place.

Woobius: A service that lets architects and builders in the construction business collaborate, by gathering all information and data in one place with access to everyone involved.

Mobypicture: A service that makes it possible to share photo’s, video’s and audio with friends at social network sites like Hyves, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, with one press of a button.

Layar: A browser that uses ‘augmented reality’, by which means users can see which enterprises and services are in their surroundings by looking through the camera of their mobile phone.

We’ve been through 2 judging selections already and the final one will be at Picnic in Holland 23-25 September. There is a public part to the judging, which we’ll doubtless be asking you to retweet all the time from now until the judging.

Winning this would be fantastic for Audioboo, as it would give us the ability to roll out our platform beyond iPhone and onto Nokia, Android & Blackberry platforms sooner than current finances would make possible. We’ve always seen our iPhone app as a proof of concept rather than an entity on itself and our talks with various mobile platforms and handset manufacturers show there is a real desire to get something like Audioboo onto as many mobile devices as possible. Hopefully success in Vodafone Clicks will start to make this a reality.
