Magic Tags: Audioboo Pro
Ooh! I’ve just seen ‘magic tags’ working and they’re great. Let’s put this in context.
There will always be a free version of audioboo. We’ve always said that. But we working on different paid versions for different markets. One of these is Audioboo Pro, which will contain a series of web tools which make it easy for companies, particularly media companies, to manage content coming from their audiences. A key part of that is moderation and that’s where magic tags come in.
I get a lot of flak here for calling them that. My people prefer to call them ‘user specific tags’ but to me they’re magic. What they allow a Pro user to do is create a tag (let’s say ‘The Guardian’, after their fantastic coverage of us yesterday) in their settings and then apply that tag to any piece of audio on audioboo. No one else can see the tag but what it does it create a custom RSS feed that they can then use to power a player on their site.
Works well for moderation (as ITV.com are doing for the FA Cup Final). But also for Best of Boos, local news and more stuff we won’t have even thought of.
It’s our first Pro feature and we think it’s fantastic. We hope you do too.

What a great feature. I’d be very interested to know how much these sort of Pro features would cost, and whether they are truly aimed at the big companies like ITV or whether a small, financially lacking, start up like Blog Vocalizer and parent company Retro Facto would find them within our reach.
