The Guardian gets into Audioboo

Map

I’m assuming it was one of those last minute ‘oh, I’ve forgotten my mp3 recorder what can I do but call @jemimakiss‘ deals but it’s kinda neat that the The Guardian here in the UK used audioboo today to cover the protests centered around the G20 Summit.

It was all done by a journalist called Matthew Weaver (who we honestly don’t know) and I think he’s just created the perfect case study for Audioboo in a near realtime news scenario.

Here’s the Guardian page and here’s his Audioboo account. Matthew – it would be a tad grand to say you’ve just made history but I think you’ve gone a long way towards proving our model. Thank you.

This is amazing! Shows how forward thinking and flexible the Guardian can be. I hope we see other professional and user generated news services using AudioBoo soon.

Hats off to you guys for the redesign too. Website looking far better.

There was an extensive discussion of the Guardian’s use of Audioboo (and Twitter) in their G20 coverage on this week’s Media Talk podcast.
